Yarn is not a dog toy.

We made it to the Outer Banks!  It’s beautiful here.  We had a good trip down, and are getting ready to settle in for the evening meal.

This is also my first experience knitting with a dog around.  Alfred is my aunt and uncle’s dog, and is on vacation with us.  He was quite curious when I got some ruffle yarn out to start knitting, and the proceeded to stick his head in my knitting bag and got out the most expensive ball of yarn in the bag, of course.  It’s a ball of Malabrigo Worsted Merino wool yarn.  Gorgeous stuff.  Luckily, I got it away from him before any damage can be done.  Alfred is a golden retriever and has a soft mouth characteristic of bird dogs.  He also has the sweetest personality and disposition.  I am going to have to be careful when knitting around him, or when he’s more comfortable and less curious about what I’m doing.  In the meantime, everything’s going to be sealed plastic bags and in a zipped tote.

  1. Ha! I know your pain. I went shopping on the weekend, and my cat stuck his nose in the bag and went straight for the merino when I wasn't looking. There must be something about Merino…
